The ALA Facilities are not the high point of our program,
and there is a perfect reason behind this notion. Most of
our student athletes have enjoyed the best equipment, the
best fields/courts, the best trainers, and the best coaching.
Although these components have helped to serve the athletic
development of the student athlete, they have not appreciated
any of it. Our goal is to not give them more, but to help
them to learn to appreciate what they have, even if it is
not the best. Our success is not derived from the fact that
we have the best sports fields, nor the best equipment. Our
success comes from the student athlete learning the “heart
of appreciation”. Due to the fact that prior to coming
to ALA the student athlete has not invested himself into all
that he has been given, giving them more of the same is not
the answer.
At ALA we have safe, adequate, and basic fields and courts.
Essentially, we have the minimum. We also have a weight room,
which provides all the essential weight-training elements.
More important than fields and equipment, we have “heart”.
Our coaches teach the student athletes that they can raise
up from here and to regain all that they lost. It takes more
than fancy fields and top-notch equipment to earn a college
scholarship. It takes leadership, investment, hard work, and
character. It takes appreciation for the gifting’s we
have been blessed with, and the investment of these gifts,
regardless of the quality of the equipment and fields we have.
